Charlotte Perkins Gilman was a writer and a feminist. "The Yellow Wallpaper," one of her best known works, was published in 1899. In 1909 Gilman became the editor and sole writer of the monthly periodical The Forerunner, which she continued writing for 7 years. The Forerunner included everything from poetry and fiction to social and economic theory.
The Charlotte Perkins Gilman collection includes five short manuscripts and eight letters or cards written by the American writer and feminist. Recipients of the letters include Miss C. A. Hedge, Reverend L. M. Powers, and Mr. S. M. Powers.
