George Frideric Handel’s Coronation Anthems is a bound music manuscript located in the Theodore M. Finney Music Manuscript collection. The manuscript is known to be in the handwriting of John Christopher Smith the Elder (1683-1763), Handel’s chief amanuensis.
Handel (1685-1759) wrote the Coronation Anthems for the coronation ceremonies of King George II and Queen Caroline in 1727. The manuscript held by the Harry Ransom Center contains the following anthems: Anthem I Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened, Anthem II Zadok the Priest, Anthem III The King Shall Rejoice, and Anthem IV My Heart Is Inditing.
